Bumrah underwent scans. The BCCI will reveal his Champions Trophy status on February 8.
Jasprit Bumrah’s Champions Trophy 2025 Participation in Doubt
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s top fast bowler, got scans at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is waiting for results. They want to know if he can play in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Bumrah hurt his back in the fifth Test against Australia this year. He is now racing to be fit before the tournament starts on February 19. He is still in India’s provisional squad, but his participation depends on the final medical report.
BCCI to Announce Decision on Bumrah’s Fitness on February 8
The Times of India reports that the BCCI will decide on Bumrah’s selection on February 8. They will review his latest medical assessment first. The report will also go to Dr. Rowan Schouten. He is a well-known medical expert from New Zealand and has treated Bumrah before.
“Once the medical team at the NCA completes their assessment, they will communicate their findings to the Indian team management. Bumrah’s injury update could also involve input from Dr. Rowan Schouten, a renowned medical expert from New Zealand, who was consulted previously when Bumrah underwent his first scan in Australia last month,” Times of India reported.
Possible Replacement If Bumrah Misses Out
Bumrah is not in India’s ODI series against England. He is focusing on rehabilitation. If he can’t recover in time for the Champions Trophy, the Indian team might replace him. They could choose young pacer Harshit Rana.
India aims for their third Champions Trophy title. So, everyone will watch February 8 closely. That’s when the BCCI will announce its final decision about Bumrah’s participation in the big event.
