ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025: Vaishnavi Stars in India’s Crushing Win Over Malaysia
Vaishnavi Sharma, a debutant left-arm spinner, was sensational. She took a record 5/5, including a hat-trick. Her effort led India to a 10-wicket win over Malaysia in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 on Tuesday. India chose to bowl first. They dismissed Malaysia for just 31 runs in 14.3 overs. Then, they chased the target in 2.5 overs without losing a wicket.
India now leads its group with four points and a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) of +9.1, ahead of Sri Lanka’s +5.5.
Vaishnavi Sharma’s Historic Bowling Figures
Vaishnavi’s stunning debut performance set a new benchmark in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Her 5/5 is the best-ever bowling figure in the tournament’s history. The highlight of her spell was a hat-trick in the 14th over, which saw Malaysia collapse from 24/6 to 30/9. Her victims in the hat-trick were Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Dania, and Siti Nazwah. They all fell prey to her perfect line and length.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better debut with a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul. My journey has had its ups and downs, and I look up to Radha Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. I had visualised how to get wickets here last night,” Vaishnavi said after the match.
Malaysia’s Struggles with the Bat
Malaysia’s batting lineup crumbled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Not a single batter managed to reach double digits. Apart from Vaishnavi, Ayushi Sharma (3/8) and Joshitha VJ (1/5) played key roles in restricting Malaysia to a meager total.
India’s bowlers were dominant despite bowling 10 wides. The pitch helped, offering turn and bounce.
India’s Rapid Chase
India wasted no time in chasing down the modest target of 32 runs, finishing the game in just 2.5 overs. G Trisha led the charge with a blistering 27 off 12 balls, which included five boundaries. Her quick innings ensured India’s win and their dominance in the tournament.
