IND vs ENG 2nd T20I: Rinku, Nitish Out as India Bowl First in Chennai
On January 25, the second T20I of the series between India and England was at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss. He chose to bowl first. India made two forced changes to their XI. Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy are injured. Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar were brought in as replacements.
England, too, made two changes. Gus Atkinson and Jacob Bethell (unwell) made way for Jamie Smith, who will debut in T20Is, and Brydon Carse.
Captains’ Insights on Toss Decision
Explaining his decision to bowl first, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said:
“We will look to bowl first. Looks like a good track. There was a little bit of dew the other night when we had a practice session. Looks like there is less grass here than we had in Kolkata. It is a good wicket.”
England captain Jos Buttler preferred to bowl first. He shared his thoughts:
“We would have looked to do the same, we would have bowled first but no problem. Same plan for us but will look to do better.”
Both captains emphasized the importance of taking each game as a fresh opportunity. Buttler added:
“Yeah they do for sure. Each game is a new opportunity and the guys are relaxed and looking forward to the game tonight.”
