Gill, Kohli Lead India’s Batting Charge

Opening the innings, India lost Rohit Sharma early to a swinging delivery. However, Gill and Virat Kohli steadied the innings with a crucial 121-run partnership. Gill’s classic stroke play, combined with Kohli’s fluent 52 (55 balls), helped India build a solid platform.

Even though Kohli was out to Adil Rashid, India stayed in charge. Shreyas Iyer’s bold 78 runs off 64 balls helped a lot. Iyer batted smartly, while Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood bowled loosely. This helped India speed up their game.

In the last overs, KL Rahul scored 40 runs off 29 balls. Axar Patel also added quick runs. Together, they helped India reach 356/7 in 50 overs.
England’s Chase Falters Despite Fiery Start
Ben Duckett gave England a quick start, smashing 22 runs off just 12 balls. He attacked Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh early, but Arshdeep’s clever variations dismissed both openers inside the PowerPlay. England reached 84/2 after 10 overs but struggled to maintain momentum.
Tom Banton (42 off 38 balls) tried to counterattack with Joe Root, but India’s spin duo—Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav—applied pressure. Banton fell to Kuldeep’s deceptive googly, and Root was bowled by Axar’s quicker delivery, leaving England in trouble at 138/5.
India’s Bowlers Decimate England’s Middle Order
Jos Buttler and Harry Brook, England’s key batters, failed to rescue their side. Harshit Rana’s well-disguised slower deliveries dismissed both players, triggering a collapse where England lost four wickets for just 21 runs.

Gus Atkinson’s late resistance (38 off 19 balls) only reduced the defeat margin as England was bowled out for 214 in 38.3 overs.
