KL Rahul’s Struggles Continue in Ranji Trophy 2024
KL Rahul returned to domestic cricket in the 2024 Ranji Trophy. But, his much-anticipated comeback was unimpressive. In a match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rahul scored 26 runs off 37 balls for Karnataka against Haryana. He was out in the 34th over.
His return followed India’s disappointing Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss to Australia. There were high hopes for a strong domestic performance. However, Haryana’s Anshul Kamboj and keeper Rohit Sharma dismissed Rahul. Karnataka was 99/2.
KL Rahul Dismissed as Rohit Sharma Takes a Stunner
Haryana won the toss and elected to bowl first on January 30. Karnataka lost opener KV Avneesh (17) early, bringing KL Rahul to the crease at No. 3. Fans expected a big knock from the star batter, given his recent form.
In the 34th over, Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj bowled a crucial ball that led to Rahul’s downfall. On the fourth ball of the over, wicketkeeper Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch. It sent Rahul back for 26 runs.
Mayank Agarwal Anchors Karnataka’s Innings
Despite Rahul’s early departure, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal provided much-needed stability. He played a solid knock of 91 runs, ensuring Karnataka stayed in control.
Karnataka is 162/3 in 48.3 overs. Devdutt Padikkal and Smaran Ravichandran are at the crease.
