Mohammed Shami Stands by Dubai Pitch Benefit Ahead of Champions Trophy 2025 Final
India’s top fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has addressed Gautam Gambhir’s worries. Gambhir is concerned that India will play all their Champions Trophy 2025 games in Dubai. He thinks knowing the conditions gives the team a big edge. They are preparing for the final against New Zealand on March 9.
India’s Strong Run in Dubai Sparks Debate
Pakistan hosted the tournament. However, India played all their matches at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They cited security concerns for not traveling to Pakistan.
Critics, such as Gambhir, argue that playing at one venue gave India an edge over other teams. India has shown their strength in these conditions. Their four-wicket win over Australia in the semi-final proves it.
Shami Defends India’s Familiarity with Dubai Pitch
After India won the semi-final, Shami said that playing all the matches in Dubai was key to the team’s success.
“It has definitely helped us because we know the conditions and the behaviour of the pitch. The main thing is to gauge the conditions and know how the pitch behaves because you are playing at one venue, and you can get to know it well,” Shami stated.
Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir had denied claims of an unfair advantage. However, Shami admitted that playing in Dubai has helped the team.
Shami on Leading India’s Pace Attack in Champions Trophy 2025
Jasprit Bumrah is out with an injury, so Shami has taken charge as India’s main pace bowler. He leads a team that includes young talent Harshit Rana and all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Even with the extra workload, Shami feels sure he can perform well under pressure.
“There is a load when you are the one main fast bowler, and the other is an all-rounder. You have to pick wickets and lead from the front. I have become used to this load and am trying my best to make it easy for others and give more than 100 per cent,” he added.
India will face New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final. Shami’s form and leadership will be key at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
