After a 7-wicket win in the first T20I against England, India has landed in Chennai for the second of five T20Is. Tilak Varma, India’s stylish middle-order batter, stole the spotlight. He paid tribute to CSK legend MS Dhoni. The city is now synonymous with “Thala Dhoni.”
The second T20I is on January 25 at 7:00 PM IST. India aims to keep their winning streak. England wants to bounce back.
India’s Commanding Start in the Series
India began the series on a strong note. They convincingly beat England in the first T20I in Kolkata. Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh bowled brilliantly. They held England to just 132 runs.
In the chase, Abhishek Sharma shone. He scored 79 not out off 34 balls, with 8 sixes. His explosive innings helped India chase the target, 1-0 up in the series.

The squad received a warm welcome at their hotel, with fans and staff greeting the players enthusiastically.
India Likely to Stick with Winning Combination
The first T20I’s playing XI had a near-perfect game. So, head coach Gautam Gambhir will likely keep it for the second match. Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership has been praised. The team is eager to continue their dominant form.
England Faces Tough Questions
The series opener showed flaws in England’s batting and bowling. The visitors will need to regroup and devise a strategy to counter India’s in-form players.
Will Mohammad Shami Play the Second T20I?
There is still talk about Mohammad Shami. He was fit for the series but did not play in the first game. The experienced pacer has been out for over a year due to injuries. But, he is now reportedly match-ready.
The Indian management has not clarified if Shami will play the second T20I. If deemed fully fit, his inclusion could bolster India’s bowling attack as they aim to seal a 2-0 lead in the series.
