BCCI Imposes New Practice Restrictions on IPL 2025 Teams
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set new practice rules for IPL 2025 teams. They are limiting training sessions and warm-up matches before the tournament starts.
The BCCI’s new rule allows franchises seven practice sessions. They can also have two warm-up matches. The move aims to ease the pressure on venues. They are already busy with domestic matches before the IPL season.
The IPL 2025 season starts on March 22. KKR will face RCB at Eden Gardens.
Key Practice Restrictions for IPL 2025
As per the BCCI’s official note to franchises, the new practice regulations include:
- Each team can have a maximum of seven practice sessions. Each session can last up to three hours and will be held under floodlights.
- Two warm-up matches or open net sessions, to be played on side wickets of the main square.
- Warm-up matches under lights cannot exceed three and a half hours.
- No practice sessions on the main square in the four days leading up to a team’s first home match. However, one side wicket per team will be available for range hitting.
The rules keep the pitches in top shape before the IPL season starts.
Managing Conflicts in Practice Schedules
BCCI has set a process to handle scheduling conflicts. This is needed because there are limited slots available. If both teams want to practice at the same time, they can follow this procedure.
- Team managers will be asked to mutually adjust their practice slots.
- If no agreement is reached, the BCCI will step in. They will set up two-hour slots, like 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
- This ensures fair practice conditions for both the home and away teams.
Why These Restrictions Matter for IPL 2025
The BCCI’s choice shows a smart move to keep the pitch quality high. This is important because venues are in high demand for domestic tournaments. These new rules might change how teams prepare. They are meant to create fair playing conditions all season.
With IPL 2025 coming up, teams need to make the most of their practice sessions. They must sharpen their squads before the tournament starts.
