A source quoted the media report as saying that Mayank is bowling well in the nets and is looking prepared for the match. The Lucknow team is now waiting for the green signal from the Center of Excellence so that Mayank can join the team.
Sources said that the franchise hopes that Mayank will join the team soon. If Mayank joins the team on April 11 or 12, it means that he will not be able to play in the first seven matches, which also includes matches against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. Mayank made headlines by bowling at a speed of 155 kmph in the last IPL season.
Made headlines last season
Mayank was out due to injury in the 2023 season, but he took three wickets in his debut match against Punjab Kings last season. After this, he also took three wickets in the next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), due to which he was the Player of the Match in two consecutive matches. However, his campaign was limited to just four matches as he could not play further due to side strain. Despite being out for most of the time last season, the Lucknow franchise expressed confidence in him and retained Mayank for Rs 11 crore before the mega auction.
Zaheer Khan, who was made the Director of Cricket of Lucknow Supergiants, had said that when Mayank regains full fitness, the team will work hard with him. Lucknow Supergiants will start their campaign in IPL 2025 with a match against Delhi Capitals on March 24 at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. This time the team will play under the leadership of new captain Rishabh Pant.
