In a candid statement, du Plessis highlighted the IPL auction’s unpredictability. He said that nothing is guaranteed, despite past successes.

Faf du Plessis on IPL Auction Uncertainty

Speaking about the dynamics of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Faf du Plessis said,

“You never know with IPL. I’ve played a lot of cricket in the IPL, and I know with auctions, nothing is guaranteed. I don’t even know what’s going on. I don’t think my name has come up yet. So let’s see. I mean, there’s a lot of batters already been picked up. So let’s see what happens,”

Du Plessis noted the auction’s fierce competition. Many top batters have already secured their spots.

Strong Performances in Abu Dhabi T10

The former South African skipper has shone in the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. He has proved why he is a sought-after player in shorter formats. His two fifties in just four matches show he can adapt and perform under pressure. This is vital as T20 and T10 cricket now favor high-scoring, explosive games.

Evolution of High Scores in T20 Cricket

In discussing cricket’s evolution, du Plessis noted a trend. T20 matches have huge scores now.

“The game keeps surprising us. We saw some serious scores this year in T20 cricket with 260, 270, so anything is possible with the guys, the way that they play these days.”  – he remarked.

Du Plessis believes that modern batting and new techniques lead to more record-breaking scores. A fearless intent drives this trend.

Faf du Plessis on Fitness and Motivation

At 40, Faf du Plessis is one of the fittest cricketers. His disciplined approach to fitness and mental health is the reason. He is motivated by his competitive spirit and desire to excel.

“Yeah, I’m still very motivated for my own personal games. So if you’re motivated to keep improving and making sure that your performance is always at a level where you’re competing amongst the great players of the world, I still have that drive within myself to do that, and I’ll push that for as long as that drive is there. So, for the time being, mentally I’m still fresh, and from a physical point of view, I still feel very motivated and fresh as well,” –  he explained.

he concluded, signaling his intent to continue competing at the highest level.
