IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Team Retentions, Auction Purse, RTMs, and Slots

The IPL 2025 mega auction is on November 24 and 25. It will start a new three-year cycle for the tournament. As all ten franchises prepare to rebuild, the stakes are high. Teams must now finalize their strategies. A total of 577 players will go under the hammer in this highly anticipated event. This includes 367 Indian and 210 overseas players.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Rules

• Maximum Retentions: Each team could retain a maximum of 6 players. This included up to 5 capped players and 2 uncapped ones.
• RTM Slots: Teams receive RTM cards equal to the number of unfilled retention slots (maximum 6).
• Auction Purse: Each team has a budget of ₹120 crore. The total spent on retained players reduces it.
• Squad Composition: Teams must have 18-25 players. This includes a max of 8 overseas players.
