Kohli played a key role in India’s title win in the Champions Trophy and he will be eyeing to maintain the same form in the IPL as well. After the Champions Trophy, Kohli was on a break for a few days, so he joined RCB late.
Virat Kohli was in great form in the Champions Trophy
RCB will play under the leadership of Rajat Patidar this time, but the franchise is still waiting for its first IPL title. Kohli was in great form during the Champions Trophy and scored 218 runs in five matches at an average of 54.50, which includes a century and a half-century.
He did not perform well in the first match against Bangladesh, but scored an unbeaten century against Pakistan to give India a win. After this, he was out cheaply in the last match of the group stage against New Zealand. Kohli then scored 84 runs in the semi-final match against Australia and played a key role in taking India to the title match. Kohli is now eyeing to shine in the IPL.
RCB’s eyes will once again be on Kohli, who will be in search of his first IPL title. After Faf du Plessis left the team, there was talk that Kohli could once again take over the reins of RCB, but the franchise expressed confidence in Patidar. Kohli left the captaincy of RCB in 2021 and he did not express interest in taking over this responsibility again.
