Captains’ reaction after the toss

Smriti Mandhana (RCB-W captain)

Smriti Mandhana admitted that she would also have liked to bowl first, but now her goal would be to put a big score on the board. She spoke honestly about the team’s performance in the season and praised the excellent form of some players.

“We also wanted to bowl first. But after watching yesterday’s match, we realized that if we score a good score, the result of the match can also be different.”

He also shared his team’s struggle journey this season:

“We had a good start to the tournament. We managed to win two matches despite several players being injured in the initial matches. But we could not maintain that momentum. This is how cricket is. We wanted to play good cricket in the Bengaluru leg, but unfortunately could not do so.”

He praised the excellent performance of Ellyse Perry, Sneh Rana, Kanika Ahuja and Richa Ghosh and said that the players have worked very hard on an individual level.

“The way Rana batted in the last over in the last match was commendable. Kanika, Richa and Renuka have had a great season. Ellyse Perry has batted brilliantly throughout the tournament. Even though we are at the bottom of the points table, our players have made their place in the race for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap, which is encouraging.” She also confirmed the three changes made to the playing XI:

“We have three changes in our team today. Joshitha, Prema and Heather Graham are making their debuts today.”

Harmanpreet Kaur (MI-W captain)

Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a clear statement about her team’s confidence and goal. She said that she believes in chasing runs, and the team has achieved success with this strategy in recent matches.

“We will bowl first. Chasing runs is a better option on this pitch. We got the biggest example of this in last night’s match.”

She also said that her team has shown hunger for victory in every match and they will continue to play with this mindset.

“We go into every match with the intention of winning. We have also proved this in this tournament. Even today we are going to the field with the same enthusiasm and confidence.”

“We are going in without any changes.”
