The BCCI has confirmed that the WPL 2025 Auction will be on December 15 at the ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru. This much-anticipated mini-auction will feature cricketing stars and top Indian players. Franchises want to finalize their squads for the upcoming season.

Auction Details and Team Slots

The WPL 2025 Auction will let franchises fill 19 slots. Each team can have 14 Indian and 5 overseas players. This auction follows the retention of 71 players, as announced on November 7.

International and Indian Stars to Watch

Prominent players heading to the auction include:

• International Players: Heather Knight (England), Lea Tahuhu (New Zealand), Deandra Dottin (West Indies)

• Indian Players: Sneh Rana (allrounder), Poonam Yadav (leg-spinner), Veda Krishnamurthy (batter)

Team-by-Team Auction Purses

The five WPL teams enter the auction with different budgets. This is due to their retention and release strategies. Here is the breakdown of available funds:

• Delhi Capitals (DC): ₹2.50 crore (smallest purse)

• Gujarat Giants (GG): ₹4.40 crore (largest purse after releasing seven players)

• Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): ₹3.25 crore

• Mumbai Indians (MI): ₹2.65 crore

• UP Warriorz (UPW): ₹3.90 crore

The Gujarat Giants, last in the 2024 season, will try to rebuild with the largest auction budget. Meanwhile, RCB, the defending champions, released seven players. They must strengthen their roster.

Pre-Auction Trades

Notable trades have also shaped the auction landscape. England batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge was traded for cash. She moved from UP Warriorz to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a pre-season deal. This marks the only confirmed trade ahead of the WPL 2025 Auction.
