WPL 2025: RCB gave a big blow by defeating Mumbai Indians in WPL.
Royal Challengers Bangalore may not have started well in the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025) but they have ended the tournament with a win. RCB, playing under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, defeated Mumbai Indians by 11 runs in their last match of WPL. It is a matter of relief for Mumbai Indians that despite this defeat, they are in the title race. On the other hand, defending champion RCB is out of the tournament despite the win.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and Mumbai Indians Women faced each other in the Women’s Premier League on Tuesday. Batting first, Bangalore scored 199 runs for 3 wickets. Captain Smriti Mandhana scored the highest 53 runs from their side. She hit 6 fours and 3 sixes in her 37-ball innings. Alice Perry played an unbeaten innings of 49 runs in 38 balls.

Richa Ghosh scored 36 runs in 22 balls while Georgia Wareham remained unbeaten after scoring 31 runs in 10 balls. Opener Sabneni Meghna scored 26 runs in 13 balls. It is clear that every batsman of Royal Challengers Bangalore scored runs. On the other hand, except for Mumbai Indians’ Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr, no other bowler could take wickets. Matthews took two wickets and Amelia Kerr took one wicket. RCB added 70 runs in the last five overs.
Natalie Sciver did not get support
For Mumbai Indians Women, Natalie Sciver Brunt played a brilliant innings of 69 runs but she did not get much support from the other end. In the last overs, Sajeevan Sanjana (23), captain Harmanpreet Kaur (20), Hayley Matthews (19) and Amanjot Kaur (17) started well but could not prolong their innings. This directly caused loss to Mumbai Indians, which were stuck at a score of 188 for 9 in 20 overs.
Now Mumbai team will play the eliminator match

If Mumbai Indians had won this match, they would have directly made it to the finals. Due to losing, they remained at the second position in the points table. Delhi Capitals Women got the direct benefit of this. Delhi team made it to the finals by being at the first position in the points table. The second finalist team will be decided in the eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants Women. This match will be held on March 13. The team that wins the eliminator match will face Delhi Capitals Women in the final on March 15.
