Vaibhav Suryavanshi Stars as India Dominate UAE in U-19 Asia Cup

India’s 13-year-old cricket star, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, shone bright. He led the team to a 10-wicket win over the UAE in the U-19 Asia Cup quarterfinal in Sharjah on Wednesday. The victory secured India a place in the semifinals, where they will face Group B leaders Sri Lanka.

In the news for Rajasthan Royals buying him for Rs 1.1 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, Suryavanshi scored 76 not out off 46 balls. This led India to an easy win.

Clinical Bowling Sets Up Easy Win for India

UAE chose to bat first. They crumbled against India’s bowlers, making just 137 runs in 44 overs. Right-arm medium pacer Yudhajit Guha starred with 3/15. Chetan Sharma (2/27) and Hardik Raj (2/28) each took two wickets.

The Indian bowlers kept tight lines. They dismantled the UAE’s batting order at regular intervals. This left the UAE little chance to build partnerships.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre Seal the Victory

India’s chase was one-sided. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre were unbeaten. Their explosive knocks won the game. The opening duo raced to the target in just 16.1 overs.

  • Suryavanshi’s Innings: 76* off 46 balls (3 fours, 6 sixes)

  • Mhatre’s Innings: 67* off 51 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes)

Suryavanshi, a left-hander, showed rare maturity. Most of his sixes landed in the cow corner region. Mhatre provided steady support, ensuring India’s dominance from start to finish.

Suryavanshi’s Rising Star

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performance comes days after he became the youngest player ever sold at auction in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals invested Rs 1.1 crore in the 13-year-old prodigy. His unbeaten half-century in a high-pressure game proved it was a wise choice.

India’s Path to Semifinals

India began their U-19 Asia Cup campaign on a shaky note, losing their opening match to Pakistan by 43 runs. However, they bounced back strongly with a record-breaking 211-run win over Japan.

India will now face Group B leaders Sri Lanka in the semifinals on Friday. Meanwhile, Pakistan, unbeaten in the group stage, will face Bangladesh in the other semifinal.
