Richa Ghosh’s DRS Call Helps India Dismiss Phoebe Litchfield in 3rd ODI
In the third ODI against Australia Women in Perth, Richa Ghosh, India’s wicketkeeper, changed the game with a bold DRS call. It sent opener Phoebe Litchfield back to the pavilion. The dismissal came in the 11th over of Australia Women’s innings. It gave India a much-needed breakthrough after the hosts had started strong.
Strong Start by Australia Halted by Indian Bowlers
After India Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bowl, Australia began their innings on a high note. Openers Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield put on a 58-run stand. It frustrated the Indian bowlers early on.
However, the visitors made a great comeback. Pacer Arundhati Reddy took both openers in quick succession. Voll, in fine form, was clean-bowled by Reddy. Litchfield fell to an exceptional display of wicketkeeping by Richa Ghosh.
Richa Ghosh’s DRS Call Changes the Game
The moment came when Arundhati Reddy bowled a good-length ball outside the off-stump. It tempted Litchfield to cut it. The left-handed batter nicked the ball trying to hit it to the boundary on the off-side. But, the umpire ruled her not out.
Confident of the edge, Richa Ghosh signaled to captain Harmanpreet Kaur to take the DRS. The decision paid off as replays confirmed the outside edge, and Litchfield was sent packing. Ghosh’s quick thinking and skillful play gave India a key wicket. It reduced Australia to 70 for two.
Beth Mooney and Ellyse Perry Rebuild for Australia
Following Litchfield’s dismissal, veteran batter Beth Mooney joined Ellyse Perry in the middle to steady the Australian innings. At the time of writing, the hosts were 70 for two, with Mooney batting on 8* and Perry on 2*.
Richa Ghosh’s DRS masterstroke showed her skills as a keeper. It also helped India limit a strong Australian batting lineup in the crucial third ODI.
